The Bellylabs dog pregnancy test is intended to determine pregnancy in a bitch as well as to distinguish between pseudopregnancy and a real gestation. The test measures relaxin hormone, which is a reliable indication of pregnancy. For the best accuracy Bellylabs recommend testing 28 days after ovulation. There is no harm in testing earlier, but there might not be enough hormone for a reliable detection yet.

How it works

The device measures the electrical impedance of your bitch’s vaginal fluid which increases in a unique trend with each bitch prior to ovulation. When used consistently as prescribed, this proven method of over 30 years effectively tracks timing when following the LH surge and progesterone levels are at their optimum to indicate when appropriate to proceed with insemination.

Ovulation detection in canines:

  • Ovulation occurs 48 hours following the LH surge
  • Eggs require 48 hours post-ovulation for oocyte maturation
  • A brief, 3-day window of maximum fertility follows

Research shows that the peak and decline in readings using the Ovulation Detector occurs approximately two days following the LH surge.

The Draminski Pregnancy Detector for dogs determines pregnancy by locating amniotic fluid in the uterus with ultrasonic wave reflection. When pressed to your dogs’ skin, the probe sends an ultrasound beam which is reflected from the uterus filled with fluid and returns to the probe, causing the device to emit a sound and light to indicate a positive result.
